Synopsis.
Joseph Brown was born in 1745 in Stone, Gloucestershire, the child of Joseph and Elizabeth. He married Mary Bendle on November 1, 1763, in Berkeley, Gloucestershire. They had seven children in 17 years. He died on February 13, 1811, at the age of 66.
Joseph brown was baptised on the 5th of May 1745 at Stone. His father was shown as Joseph Brown and his mother was Elizabeth.
No marriage can be found for Joseph and Elizabeth in the area.
2nd October 1763 the first Banns were read in Berkeley.
On the 1st of November 1763, Joseph married Mary Bendle* in Berkeley.
*Note.
Through the maternal side of this family i.e. the Bendle’s and then previously the Prewett’s this families roots have been traced back thus far to a Richard Prewett and his wife Margaret Michell, Richard was born in 1630 in Gloucester. Their tree is not contained on these pages.
On the 3rd March 1772, Joseph Brown Snr, Joseph’s father, died and was buried in Stone, Gloucester

There may have been other children. For example, there is a record of a death at Stone of a “John Brown, son of Joseph and Mary”. The burial, at Stone Church, was held on February the 25th 1772. This could well have been a child from early in the marriage. No record of a likely baptism can be found for this child.
Joseph Brown died and was buried at Berkeley on the 13th February 1811. He was shown as being a Labourer and a resident of Michaelwood.
